The evidence of supplication and response:

Allah (SWT) says: “When My servants ask you concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on Me. Let them also listen to My call, and believe in Me that they may walk in the right way.” (II: 186)

“So, Allah (SWT), answering those who ask about Him, says that He is close to them, for He hears their calls and prayers and then responds to them, and they see with their own eyes the result of that response.”[1]

The phenomenon of supplication and response is parctised by most people, if not all of them. It has been witnessed by many eye-witnesses who invoked Allah and He (SWT) responded to  their invocation. Some of these supplicants were responded to instnatly and directly afte the supplication. This truth is not cofined to Muslims, but Allah, out of His Mercy (SWT), may respond to the supplication of every person in distress even if he is a disbeliever. Allah (SWT) says: “Or, who answers the distressed one when he calls upon Him and removes the evil?” (XXVII: 62) Many a patient invoked Allah, or somebody invoked Allah for their recovery, and they were recovered by Allah (SWT) after the doctors were hopless and confirmed that they were incurable. Numerous have been the cases when somebody faces a an insoluble distressful problem and all of a sudden it is solved upon invoking Allah (SWT) for help.

As to the supplication for rain, we observe that Allah (SWT) responds to the supplications of Muslims for rain and sends down rain directly after the supplication. This phenomenon has become so familiar in the Muslim countries that it requires no proofs.

What draws one’s attention is that people all over the world invoke Allah at the same moment, and for various needs and in various languages, yet Allah (SWT) responds to each of them and satisfies his need. He hears them all at the same moment despite their different languages, dialects and needs. How Great Allah (SWT) is then! Can a human do all that? Or can an idol, a tree or the deaf nature do that? No, definitely. None can do that save Allah, the Owner of everything in the Universe, the Hearer of everything, the One Who responds to supplications, and Who knows everything, the Lord and Cherisher of the words, the Only Unique Deity, all-Powerful, all-Wise.
