Scientific proofs:
1. In the sky:
The expansion of the universe: Allah (SWT) says: “We have built the heaven with might, and We are expanding it.” (LI: 47) Scientists confirm that the components of the universe move away from each other precisely and regularly. Since its creation the universe has been expanding and will continue expanding till the Day of Resurrection and will be folded or rolled up again like a scroll rolled up for books (completed). Allah (SWT) says: “The Day when We shall roll up the heavens like a scroll rolled up for books (completed). As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise (binding) upon Us. Lo! We are to perform it.” (XXI: 104)
In 1912 the scientist Melvin Slipher[1] observed that the galaxies were moving away from our galaxy increasingly. In 1916, Einstein's General Relativity Theory appeared to support the theory of the universe-expansion.[2]
(Edwin Hubble, 1929) Observed a Red Shift when looking at the spectrum light coming from distant galaxies. All light from these galaxies is shifted towards longer wavelengths, i.e. toward red light. This is the Doppler effect, and could only occur if the galaxies were moving away from each other at very high speeds. In fact they are moving away from each other at a rate proportional to the distance between them.[3] Dr Tawfiq ‘Alwan says: “Within 1.300.000.000 years the diameter of the universe will double.”[4]
2. The origin of the universe was smoke:
Allah (SWT) says: “Then turned He to the heaven when it was dukhan (smoke), and said to it and to the earth: ‘Come both of you, willingly or unwillingly.’ They said: ‘We come, obedient.’” (XLI: 11). Before being formed, the universe was a dark cloud of smoke (nebula) consisting of dark gases and metal elements of extreme heat. Then the tremendous cloud started condensing into very hot and very dense spots forming a large number of stars composed of burning gases. Then comets, planets, meteorites and moon separated from them.[5]
Some scientists describe the smoke as “mist”, but Professor Yushidi Kusan[6] pointed out that mist does not correspond to the description of this smoke, because mist is characteristically cold, whereas this cosmic smoke is somewhat hot. “Dukhan” indeed is made up of diffused gases to which solid substances are attached, and this is the exact description of the smoke from which the universe emerged even before the stars were formed. He added that because that smoke was hot, we cannot describe it as “mist”. “Dukhan” is the best descriptive word that can ever be.”[7]
So, we see scientists make errors in their theories and present such information as is proved to be wrong later on. This is the nature of the process of their scientific discoveries and they continue correcting their theories till they arrive at the truth. In contrast, the Book of our Lord gives us the truth at once. Allah (SWT) says: “Should He Who has created not know? And He is the One that understands the finest mysteries and is Al-aware of everything?” (LXVII: 14)
