The Attributes of the God of the Children of Israel:

The Children of Israel told people a lie by claiming that Allah was their own God to the exclusion of all other people and that He had chosen them from among all nations to be His own favorite nation. Therefore, we see them tell lies about Allah describing Him with such attributes as are inappropriate for His Greatness and are inconvenient to write or utter, but we are obliged to mention them to reveal the truth, for the narrator of blasphemy is not blasphemous.

          The Repentance of the Lord:

·        “And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.”[1]

·        “for it repented the LORD because of their groaning.”[2]

    • Jeremiah says to his people: “Therefore now amend your ways and your doings… and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.”[3].

    • “and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.[4]

    • “And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.”[5]

So to them Allah can repent of what He has done or what He would have done against them. The occasions of His repentance were numerous and were connected with the cases of killing and the disposition of anger. His attribute of repentance is linked with that of being a killer.

In Jeremiah their god repents several times times:

    • “that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings”[6]

    • “and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them.”[7]

    • “for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you.”[8]

    • “The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.”[9]

    • “It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments”[10]

Let us look into this text for a while. We find the Lord here repents a decision that He has already made, i.e. the decision of setting up Saul to be king. Yahweh had ordered Saul, the first Jewish king, to kill the Amalekites and to kill all men, women, children and even animals. Saul carried out the order of “Yahweh” but he thought it was appropriate to spare the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs. Here Saul behaved according to the typical Jewish mentality; he felt it would be inconvenient to destroy the best of the sheep and other animals and therefore he kept them to offer them as sacrifice to Allah to smell their smell.

    “Allah does not repent”:

The distortions and corruptions that were introduced in their Book were bewildering and contradictory. While the Torah confirms that Allah can repent, there are texts that confirm that He (He be glorified) does not repent:

·        “I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent.”[11]

·        “And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.”[12]

·         “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent.”[13]

“He forgives and does not forgive”:

—Forgives:

    • “But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea.[14]

    • “thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful.”[15]

    • “that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression”[16]

—Does not forgive:

    • “he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.[17]

    • “therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.”[18]

    • “The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit.”[19]

“He has tears and He weeps”:

·        “God sheds two tears a day in the sea for forsaking the Children of Israel.”[20]

           “He may have fever”:

·        “and burning coals went forth at his feet.”[21]

“He roars and shouts and growls”:

·        “The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth.”[22]

“His two lips are full of indignation”:

·        “Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation.”[23]

“Allah does not remember a covenant except when the rainbow      appears”:

·        “I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth………… And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.”[24]

This is one of their follies. Does this mean that when in summer the rainbow does not appear Allah will forget that alleged covenant?[25]

“Allah goes before them”:

    • “And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night.[26]

“Allah is a man of war”:

·        “my father's God, and I will exalt him. The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.”[27]

“Allah rides upon a cloud”:

  •   “Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt.”[28]

    • “And the LORD descended in the cloud.”[29]

“Allah resembles man”:

    • “In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;[30]

    • “So God created man in his own image.”[31]

“In contrast Allah has not likeness.”

    • “To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?”[32]

    • “To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.”[33]

    • “I am God, and there is none like me.”[34]

“Allah gets tired and rests”:

·        “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.”[36]

 “Allah sleeps and awakes”:

·        “Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine. And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts.”[37]

·        “Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD.”[38]

Glory be to Him! For He is above what they attribute to Him. (No slumber can seize Him nor sleep.)

“He dwells in the midst of the children of Israel”:

    • “where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever.[39]

“He dwells in Zion”:

    • “for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.[40]

    • Contrarily: “Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.”[41]

Allah wrestles and is defeated”:

·        The god of the Jews came down from Heaven and wrestled with Jacob, who defeated him, whereupon the Lord asked him to let him go but he refused till he blessed him. “And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.[42] What kind of god is this?

“They liken His Strength to that of some animals”:

    • “Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them…I will meet them as a bear…and there will I devour them like a lion.”[43]

Glory be to Him and Exalted is He above all these comparisons.

“He hides at times of trouble”:

·        “Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? Why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?”[44]

These are just some of the attributes they give to the Lord and there are many more, and Allah is free from such attributes for none is like Him.
