Divorce:
Divorce is permissible in Judaism, but the husband cannot remarry her if she has married after her divorce from him and her new husband has died or divorced her, for that would be abomination: “Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD.”[1]
In two cases a husband cannot divorce his wife at all: 1) “If the husband has accused his wife of not being virgin and it was proved wrong. “and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days,”[2] namely, he will be sentenced to life marriage.”[3] 2) If the damsel is virgin and the man has a love affair with her before marriage, he should give her father fifty shekels of silver and marry her and never divorce her all his life.[4] |
