Sub-section Five: The Gospels’ discrepancies and contradictions

If we look at the first sentence in each Gospel we will notice the following:

The first sentence in the Gospel of Matthew says:  “The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.” (1/1)

The first sentence in the Gospel of Mark says: “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” (1/1)

The first sentence in the Gospel of Luke says: “Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us…” (1/1)

The first sentence in the Gospel of John says: “In the beginning was the Word.” (1/1)

So, you notice that the gospels differ from the first sentence on the first page. In contrast if you open to the first page of any copy of the Qur’an anywhere in the world you will find the same sentences, words and letters of any extract you want to compare. If you look deeper into the Gospels you will find stark contradictions that touch the basic doctrines of the Christian religion, which would confuse the reader who would not know which was the utterance of Jesus (peace be upon him). What increases one’s perplexity is that “within tens of years we see the same Gospels appearing with texts different from those known before.”[1]
