Sub-section Five: Invalidating and refuting the Doctrine of Trinity intellectually:

1.     Jesus (peace be upon him) said that he was not a god. Denying his own divinity entails the invalidation of the Trinity, for one of the Trinity is Jesus (peace be upon him), who says he is a human being and not a god. How can he then be one pf the pillars of the divine Trinity? Again, what happened to the Trinity when Jesus (peace be upon him) died for three days, as mentioned in Matthew (17/ 22)? When one of the pillars of the Trinity died, did the Trinity turn into two-thirds at that time, or become Binary?”[1]

2.     Sheikh Rahmatullah al-Hindi, in the course of talking about refuting the Trinity intellectually, says: “Three persons were converted to Christianity and a priest taught them the fundamental doctrines, particularly the Doctrine of Trinity. The priest tested the first person, who answered: “You have taught me that there are three gods: one is that who is in the heaven, the second is the one born from the womb of the virgin Mary, and the third is that who descended in the shape of pigeon upon the second god when the latter was thirty years old.” The priest got angry and dismissed him, saying: “This is ignorant!” He then summoned the second person and asked him. He said: “You have taught me that the gods were three. One of them was crucified, so there remained two gods.” The priest got angry with him, too, and dismissed him. He then summoned the third, who was intelligent in comparison to the other two, and keener to memorize doctrines. The priest asked him and he answered, saying: “O Master! I have very well committed to my memory what you taught me and, by the Grace of Lord Christ, I have understood perfectly that one is three and three is one; one of the three was crucified and died; therefore, all of them died because unity should continue. Consequently, there is no God now; otherwise, unity should be annulled.”[2]

Certainly, the unity of three different entities is not a logical, understandable or conceivable notion. How can Gabriel, an angel, Jesus, a mortal human being, and a god, Allah (SWT) unite to form the Christian Trinity? The unification of three different entities of different characteristics is impossible and cannot be accepted intellectually or narratively.”[3]

This doctrine obliges the Christian to repress his mind, cover his eyes and give up the role of logic.

Here we may show that Christians differ as to the nature of Jesus (peace be upon him) and the Holy Spirit. They say about Jesus:

1.     He has one nature, for he is a god.

2.     He is of Divine nature + human nature, for he is the son of Allah and the son of man at the same time. He was born of Mary, who was a human being.

They say about the Holy Spirit:

1.     He is derived from Allah only (The Orthodox Church adopts this notion, which was behind separating it from the Catholic Church).

2.     He is derived from Allah and the Son of Allah. The notion is adopted by both the Protestant and the Catholic Churches.
