The assault and the arrest of Jesus (peace be upon him):

Mark says: “And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.  And they laid their hands on him, and took him.  And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me? I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.  And they all forsook him, and fled.”[1]

In Matthew we read: When Jesus saw Judas coming with the soldiers he said to him: “Friend, wherefore art thou come?”[2] And when one of the disciples drew his sword, Jesus said to him: “Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.”[3]  He then said to him that he could pray to Allah to presently give him more than twelve legions of angels.[4] Finally, “all the disciples forsook him, and fled.”[5]

Comments:

First: Jesus’ enquiry of Judas why he came “Friend, wherefore art thou come?” is mentioned by Matthew exclusively, and so is the assertion that Jesus could have prayed for help from Allah.

Second: The kiss was the sign of identifying Jesus. This is agreed upon by Matthew, Luke and Mark, with some minor difference. In john the kiss has no mention. We rather have a completely different picture. He says: “Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons. Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way.”[6]

We notice that the kiss is not mentioned in John, but it was Jesus who first asked them: “Whom seek ye?” They answered: “Jesus of Nazareth.” He then said to them: “I am he.” Then they went backward, and fell to the ground. Why did they go backward, and fall to the ground? Does not this indicate his stout-heatedness and his awareness that Allah would rescue him from them after praying earnestly to Allah till his sweat oozed like drops of blood, and praying to Allah that the cup, i.e. the hour, pass from him?

Would it be more logical that Allah (SWT) responded to his supplication and raised him to Him, which your Gospels confirm by stating that Allah responded to him for his piety, and that an angel appeared from heaven to strengthen him?

If it is asked where Christ had gone, we say: “Where did Elijah go?”   “and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.”[7] Also Enoch was raised. “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”[8]
