Sub-section Four: the refutation of the doctrine of the Divinity of Jesus, intellectually:
Should you fail to convince the Christian of the falsity and invalidity of the divinity of Jesus through the texts in their Holy Scripture, allure him to resort to reasoning. Say to him: “If Jesus had been Allah Himself, or even the son of Allah and had had the power of the Holy ghost when he was in the womb of his mother, why could this god or the son of God not defend himself against evil and harm when he faced it? We read in your Gospel what intellectually and logically negates the alleged divinity of Jesus or his being the son of Allah.
We read in Matthew: “And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod.”[1]
Here we ask: How can Jesus be the son of Allah and yet his father does not save him from Herod, but inspires Joseph the carpenter to flee with him to Egypt to rescue him from the expected and planned destruction? How came that Allah, the son of Allah or the incarnated god was unable with all his divine mighty to save himself from one of his creatures, Herod, to prove his divinity from the early days of his existence on earth? Is it conceivable that Allah escapes from one of His slaves for fear of destruction? Such fear from one of His slaves occurs once more. We read at the end of the same Chapter: “And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee.”[2] Is it conceivable that the son of Allah Who all things were made by, and without Whom was not any thing made that was made, as you allege, and Who is in the father and the father is in him, as you say, fears destruction by one of His slaves, such as Herod or Archelaus?[3]
You also read in Matthew what invalidates the allegation of divinity. You read that Satan took Allah to test Him: “Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.”[4] If Jesus (peace be upon him) had been Allah Himself, what kind of god was he to be exposed to the test and challenge of Satan? How can Satan tempt Allah by offering him worldly kingdoms, and it is Allah Who has created the Universe? How can this be and it is He about Whom John says: “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John: 1:3-4)?[5] Does Satan possess kingdoms more than Allah does? Satan could not have believed that Jesus was Allah; otherwise, he would not have dared stand in front of him to test him if he believed that he was Allah Who created him. This is nothing but a myth quoted from the myths about ancient pagans’ gods. A similar story is narrated about Buddha in the book “the Life of Buddha”[6] where Satan tries to tempt him as he tried to tempt Jesus. It would be more convenient and decent for Jesus himself, Christianity and its followers to say that the cursed devil came to Jesus the son of Mary, the man and son of man, the Prophet and Messenger, trying to tempt him to give up his mission,”[7] and not to ask Allah to fall down and worship him. |
