The hidden realities of the Popes:

Under the title “Papacy in the Bottom” in the period (867-1049)” Durant (in his book “the Story of Civilization) says: “Marozia, the daughter of one of the officials in the papal palace succeeded in choosing her sweetheart, Sergius III, for the papal throne (904-911). Similarly, the wife of the same official, Theodora managed to get Pope John X appointed for the papal throne (914-928) and he was a lover of hers.”[1]

Under the title “The Formation of the Church” (1049-1054) Durant says: “The heart of the church was disturbed by three internal problems:

1.     Trading in posts in the scope of papacy and bishopric.

2.     Marriage or concubinage among the clergy, excluding monks.

3.     Various cases of fornication among the monks themselves.[2]
