Section Five: The solution of Islam to the sin of Adam (peace be upon him): Islam offers the solution to the sin without crucifixion, killing of blood spilling. True, Satan tempted Adam and his wife and they ate from the tree that Allah had forbidden to eat from. Allah (SWT) says: “We said, "O Adam, live with your wife in Paradise, and eat therefrom generously, as you please, but do not approach this tree, lest you sin." But the devil duped them, and caused their eviction therefrom. We said, "Go down as enemies of one another. On Earth shall be your habitation and provision for awhile." Then learnt Adam from his Lord words of inspiration, and his Lord Turned towards him; for He is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.” (II: 35-37) In this way Islam solves the problem of the sin. Adam regretted, repented and Allah forgave that sin. Allah (SWT) says: “But his Lord chose him (for His Grace): He turned to him, and gave him Guidance.” (XX: 122) As to the claim that the successive generations inherited the sin of Adam till Christ came to be crucified so that the sin committed by Adam (peace be upon him) might be removed from people, if Adam’s sin required a sacrifice to be removed, how can the major sins that were committed after the death of Christ (peace be upon him) though they were greater than Adam’s sin, such as the abominable sis of innumerable atheists, criminals and dissolute persons? Have all these generations inherited such sins and acts of disobedience? According to your doctrine the answer would be in the affirmative, which entails that Allah should send down his son always to be crucified to free the progeny of these (sinful people) from the sin and thereby Allah’s Justice and Mercy come together, as you allege. |
