Sub-section Three: The minutes of the Miracle:
If you open any copy of the Qur’an, whether a recently printed one or a manuscript, you will find that the first verse in Surat al-Qamar says: “The Hour has drawn near, and the moos has been cleft asunder.” So, the Holy Qur’an has recorded this incident, which took place in Mecca when the infidels of the clan of Quraish asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) to show them a miracle (to prove his Prophethood). Allah (SWT) then split the moon into two halves. Both the believers and the disbelievers certainly saw the miracle. If the miracle had not surely happened, the Muslims would have had doubts about their religion and given it up; and the disbelievers would have said: “Muhammad has told a lie, for the moon has not split and we have not seen such a thing.” What really happened as a result of the incident was that the believers had stronger faith and the disbelievers were baffled by the miracle, but many of them were converted to Islam later on. So, The adherence of the believers to their faith and the conversion of the disbelievers to Islam and not objecting to what the Qur’an had recorded represent endorsing a document confirming the correspondence between what the Qur’an had stated and what they had seen.”[1] [1] Lectures on Faith delivered to second-year students, Iman University, by Shaikh ‘Abdul-Majid al-Zindani. |
