A comparison among the doctrines of Muslims, Jews and Christians concerning the Prophets:

In Islam

In Judaism

In Christianity

Belief in all the Messengers without distinction. “We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His messengers.” (II: 285)

They believe only in the prophets of the Children of Israel. They do not believe in Jesus or Muhammad (peace be upon them).

They do not believe in Muhammad (peace be upon him).

All the Messengers are human beings and have no divine attribute. “Their Messengers said to them: ‘We are but humans like you.’” (XIV: 11)

All Messengers are humans.

Jesus is a god

Prophets are infallible.

Not infallible.

Same as Jewish doctrine.

Adam was the first Prophet on earth.

The Torah does not indicate that he was a Prophet.

Same as Jewish doctrine.

Noah is a Noble Messenger. “We sent Noah to his People (with the Command): ‘Do warn your People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty.’” (LXXI: 1) “It was said: ‘O Noah! Go down (from the mountain) with peace from Us and blessings.’” (XI: 48)

And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent…[1]

Same as Jewish doctrine

Abraham (peace be upon him) was a truthful Prophet. “Also mention in the Book (the story of) Abraham: He was a man of Truth, a prophet.” (XIX: 41)

In order to protect himself from mischief, Abraham delivered his wife Sara to the king to commit fornication with her.[2]

Same as Jewish doctrine

Lot was the Prophet of purity. Lot said to his people: ‘How could you commit such an abomination, publicly, while you see?’” (XXVII: 54) The people of Lot said: “Banish Lot’s family from your town; they are people who wish to be pure.” (XXVII: 56)

The Torah accuses Lot of fornication. It alleges that his two daughters gave him wine to drink and then lay with him and each of them gave birth to a child by him.[3]

Same as Jewish doctrine

Allah (SWT) says about Jacob (peace be upon him): “We gave him (Abraham) Isaac and Jacob. Each of them We made a prophet. And we gave them of Our mercy, and assigned to them a high and true renown.” (XIX: 49-59)

Jacob cheats his blind father Isaac and pretends to be his older brother Esau: “And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy first born,” to secure the blessing of being he firstborn and deprive Esau of it, and he succeeds to gain this with the approval of the Lord.[4]

Same as Jewish doctrine

Concerning David (peace be upon him) Allah (SWT) says: “And assuredly We gave David grace from Us.” (XXXIV: 10) In the Sahihain, the Prophet (peace be upon him) is reported to have said: “The most endeared prayer to Allah is that of David and the most endeared fasting to him is that of David.”

In the Torah, David is portrayed as a criminal, a usurper and a murderer.[5]

Same as Jewish doctrine

Concerning Solomon (peace be upon him) Allah (SWT) says: “He said: ‘My Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom.’” (XXXVIII: 35)

“He said: ‘My Lord! Direct me to be appreciative of the blessings You have bestowed upon me and my parents, and to do the righteous works that please You and admit me by Your mercy into the company of Your righteous servants.’” (XXVII: 19)

The Torah describes Solomon as being so fond of women that he worshipped the gods of the heathens amongst them.[6]

Same as Jewish doctrine

Note: All the Prophets without an exception are the best of Allah’s creatures. They performed their duty perfectly and faithfully.

The Prophets, as we have seen above, are described as liars, tricky and impure and even criminals.

In the Gospel Jesus says about the Prophets: “All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers,”[7] albeit in another position he says: “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”[8]
